The latest gameplay trailer for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has it all, with its nearly five-minute length detailing a lot of what the open-world third-person action RPG is all about.

From challenging combat involving lethal swordplay and magic skills accessible to the legendary White Wold to romantic encounters, this game has it all. Set in a fantasy world wherein racism involving elves and humans is not uncommon, Geralt must traverse not only dangerous locations where monsters such as ghouls and Griffins abide, but also interact with other characters, making choices (that may not always be morally clear) which may have unforeseen consequences and not always for the better.

As the clip illustrates, the open world features locales ranging from huge cities to beautiful countrysides, dark caves and mysterious islands (which you can travel to in boats or perhaps even swim?), while characters you encounter include many interesting ones, including an apparent vampire not pleased at anyone interrupting his long slumber. Players can purchase and sell equipment, customise their armour and upgrade their weapons. Growing in experience allows one to upgrade their skills in sword combat allowing for new and deadly moves, alchemy to brew more effective and powerful potions and bombs, and magic signs that can protect you and impede or devastate enemies.

Apart from the main story and the numerous side quests, one can also indulge in assorted side activities, such as horse-racing, drinking, gambling and brawling, in addition to general exploration and treasure hunting. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt launches on 19 May on the PC, Xbox One and PS4. In case you still haven’t got the hint, this is THE RPG to get this year.
