0War of the Vikings Artwork depict various locales
Paradox Interactive and Fatshark have issued three pieces of concept art depicting some of the varied locales in War of the Vikings, their upcoming close-quarters action game set for release on the PC in early 2014. The first two images illustrate the cold North where the harsh winter blankets the land with snow, while the third one is an early sketch of the Docks, a map supposedly inspired by the Viking town of York.
The multiplayer title is sure to be a hit with fans of the Viking age as well as those who revel in close combat, given its promised large-scale 64-player maps, near-authentic locations and equipment (weapons, shields, helmets etc), and the choice of playing as a brutal Norse warrior looking to cut down any in his path to glory and riches or defending England as a brave Saxon. Players can expect fast-paced action forcing payers to rely on skill as they also utilise arrows, spears and throwing axes in ranged combat. The developers have promised that one can modify their characters and even their squad, ranging from appearance to equipment.
