They jump straight into the action, with gameplay from assorted maps such as Biolab, Instinct and Riot. They demonstrate how specialised grenades can be used to see cloaked enemies, even through walls, and a player cloaking and calling in a missile strike on an enemy Goliath.

In the dynamic Defender map, the shield is used to block incoming bullets even as a tsunami hits the location. What’s important to note is how the exosuit can significantly affect movement, and is in fact essential to conquering these matches, as players effectively doge, boost and slam their way to the top. The aerial drone Warbird and the Orbital Care package is also demonstrated to deadly effect.

While the first half of the video showcases some cinematic footage as well as gameplay from the PMC-oriented campaign portion of the FPS, with Kevin Spacey showing who’s boss, the second part of the clip depicts the Exo Survival four-player co-op mode in action, wherein the squad must survive numerous waves of different types of enemy troops; some of the opponents can employ booster packs and Goliaths also step into the fray. All of this makes for some adrenaline-inducing trigger-happy moments in Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare.

There are also the unique abilities such as shield, cloak, stim, overclock, hover and ping, which exosuits have that rely on the battery. The Exo Trophy System ability can destroy upto two incoming projectiles (think grenades) if engaged. You can also use the wrist-mounted exo launcher to deploy different types of grenades. The Pick 13 system allows for comprehensive customisation including score streaks; personnel can also try out their loadout at an all-new virtual range prior to the start of a match, and check out other players characters and loadouts at the lobby.

Next up are the maps, which revolve around the exo suits: Defender is located in and around a bunker under the Golden Gate Bridge; Biolab is set in an eponymous location in Monument Valley; Riot is situated in Baghdad (Iraq) in a prison in the aftermath of an attack, while Ascend takes place inside a Space Terminal. Finally, various modes add to the hours of fun one can extract from Advanced Warfare, with Hardpoint, Domination, Capture the Flag, and Search and Destroy returning while Uplink is a new one worth watching due to its interesting take on CTF.

High-tech mounted weaponry is used to neutralise several enemy vehicles while typical high-speed car chase hijinks ensue; of course, it wouldn’t be a Call of Duty FPS without explosions, and there are plenty of those to see. The sequence ends with a crash on the Golden Gate Bridge, leaving the player and his companion to proceed on foot. Assault rifles and homing grenades are used to takedown enemies, the exosuit to dash around and jump over obstacles, and a car door is ripped off and used as a shield. After finally cornering some bad guys the player proceeds to open the target’s van, which is filled with drones that manage to destroy the bridge supports causing it to collapse.

The mechanical invention lets players move fast vertically (boost jump) as well as horizontally (dash); there’s also the all-new energy weapon class (part of more than 300 custom weapons), 12 modes such as Capture the Flag, Hardpoint, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Search and Destroy, Uplink and Momentum. The customisation system is now even more in-depth, as the developers allow you to deck out your character choosing from a multitude of options including helmets, shirts, kits, gloves, boots etc.

You can also try out your arsenal at the Virtual Firing Range prior to the next match. Furthermore, the new reward system consists of more than 1,000 in-game player rewards; Supply Drops can contain custom weapons and various unique character equipment. Activision also unveiled the Day Zero Edition for the shooter, which grants 24-hour early access from 3 November if you pre-order the game, and two new weapons in addition to the  Advanced Arsenal bonus.
