Tons of Alleged Leaked Screenshots of Prey 2

Well this is a nice surprise; a ton of what appear to be leaked screenshots from Prey 2 have emerged online, and you can view them all below. While Bethesda Softworks’ futuristic bounty hunting-based FPS was earlier rumoured to be in stasis (and even possibly cancelled), it was confirmed at QuakeCon 2013 that the game is still very much in development.

Still, its been quite a while since we heard anything else new about the game, so its good to see this batch of images; fans shall surely spend the next few days poring over them and scrutinising them for whatever info can be gleaned (of which there appears to be plenty). Prey 2 is believed to be in development for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

This Awesome Riddick Motion Comic will leave you Blindsided

Fresh from the bowels of SDCC comes this excellent motion comic called Blindsided ahead of the imminent release of Riddick, a scifi action flick starring Vin Diesel set for release in September. The video prequel expands on the events that played out between the previous movie in the series –The Chronicles of Riddick – and the upcoming film. First off, it features voiceover by Diesel’s trademark gravelly speech, which helps re/familiarise us with the badass Furyan.

The reluctant ruler of the Necromonger Armada is attacked by traitors, and though he managed to overpower them, he realises that he needs to reconnect with and hone his primal instincts once again to prevent being Blindsided again. Tom Cruise, Emily Blunt Appear in New Edge Of Tomorrow Posters

Warner Bros have issued a couple of brand new posters via SDCC for Edge of Tomorrow, a scifi action movie starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, depicting the two main characters in combat frames. Set for release on 6 June 2014 in North America, the film also stars Charlotte Riley and Bill Paxton, and is directed by Doug Liman who brought us some arguable gems like The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Jumper. The flick revolves around Lt. Col. Bill Cage (Cruise) initially killed in a mission as part of a war between mankind and aliens called Mimics, but reawakens at the beginning of the day in what appears to be a time loop (think Groundhog Day); each subsequent battle hones his previously-limited skills and adds to his experience, and alongside Special Forces solider Rita Vrataski (Blunt) he aims to gradually repel the invasion and save humanity.

Yes, I know most of us movie aficionados are all still in awe/shock from Zack Snyder’s announcement at SDCC (Sand Diego Comic Con) that the next Superman film will also feature Batman, but that doesn’t mean we could let a gem like this pass us by. The official Redband AKA Restricted trailer for Riddick has been released, and it delivers what fans of the franchise have been waiting for in spades. While the previous trailer (which you can watch here) was all kinds of awesome, this video ups our reluctant hero/anti-hero’s badass quotient by a ton.

A follow-up to Pitch Black and The Chronicles of Riddick, the upcoming movie sees Vin Diesel reappear as the titular deadly convict being stalked by skilled bounty hunters across the galaxy. Initially stranded on a desert-like ostentatiously abandoned planet both Riddick and the following bounty hunters realise that they are not alone, and a race for survival begins. In conclusion, I think the GIF above says it all; so be sure to set aside that teensy bit of cash required for the ticket when this movie releases on 6 September.

Alien Rage arrives on PC, consoles this Autumn; Cinematic Trailer released

City Interactive has issued a new trailer for Alien Rage, announcing that the scifi FPS will arrive on the PC, Xbox 360 (via XBLA) and PS3 (via PSN) on 24 September, and revealing a bit more about the game’s back story. The premise involves the search for a rare and powerful energy source called promethium, that is capable of extreme destruction or powering a whole planet; earth’s probes discover it in on an asteroid called Deimos 875 in the year 2230 AD, and three years later arrive and commence terraforming. However, the Vorus arrive on the scene shortly after, and though initially manage a tenuous peaceful co-existence, 2242 AD sees an all-out conflict between the two dies. Players must attempt to prevent this element from falling into the hands of the enemy.

Scifi FPS Interstellar Marines launching on Steam Early Access in July, video preview released

Independent studio Zero Point Software has issued a video preview of Interstellar Marines, their PC-exclusive scifi FPS containing tactical RPG elements, announcing that players can gain “Early Access” to Interstellar Marines on Steam from the first week of July. The game takes place in the 22^nd century when the discovery of Zero Point energy revolutionises space travel and allows mankind to colonise new planets and explore new realms.

Interstellar Marines was conceptualised as part of a trilogy based on the Unity engine, focusing on an immersive non-linear game featuring open-ended levels, both singleplayers and co-op gameplay, customisable weapons, and varied interactive environments such as space stations etc all with a strong storyline revolving around the first contact between humans and a sentient alien species. Giant Mechs battle Sea Monsters in New Pacific Rim trailer

If you like watching movies with giant monsters wreaking mayhem in populated cities or robot action then this new trailer for Pacific Rim should please you plenty! The scifi action film, helmed by acclaimed filmmaker Guillermo del Toro of Hellboy and Blade II fame, takes place in a not too distant future wherein hordes of massive monsters called Kaiju have emerged from deep under the oceans, devastating several major urban centres across the world.

The human forces in all their wisdom decide to create bigass robots called Jaegers piloted simultaneously by two people to engage and destroy these creatures, and that’s why we see a huge mech using a battleship as a baseball bat in the clip above!

Set for release on 12 July in North America, the movie stars Idris Elba and Ron Perlman among others, and looks set to be at least an entertaining CGI/action fest if nothing else. Watch the clip above and sound out your thoughts in the comments below.

Flashback HD coming to PS3, Xbox 360; Check out the first Trailer

Ubisoft has unveiled the HD and 3D remake of the 1992 scifi action adventure game Flashback, which is being updated by Vector Cell for the Xbox 360 (XBLA) and PS3 (PSN) on the Unreal Engine. The game revolves around protagonist Conrad Hart’s quest to save the world and his girlfriend from the alien Morphs invasion.

Its not only the visual which are updated, as tech such as Havok means we can expect updated physics as well as animations. Furthermore, while the basic experience will be the same fun – exploring remote space stations and decimating hostile alien planets – the developers intend to incorporate new features such as gadgets, an experience progression system as well as new characters.

If you are a fan of the Mass Effect franchise and have recently finished Mass Effect 3 – the latest title in the scifi action epic saga – then the Citadel DLC may just appease your hankering for more. The trailer for the downloadable content, which is available for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, sees Commander Shepard and the entire Mass Effect team (including everyone’s favourite Krogan Urdnot Wrex) back together for one final singleplayer adventure.

While the original Mass Effect remains one of my favourite games in the genre and the latter titles have been more of third-person shooters than RPG’s, it cannot be denied the series has left a definitive impact on story-driven games in general, and that the gameplay mechanics have certainly improved, with each consecutive title acquiring more polish. Citadel sees Shepard in the midst of a sinister conspiracy, joining his squad to uncover the truth which means locations range from Citadel’s Wards to the top-secret Council Archives.
