Metro Redux trailer, screenshots mark post-apocalyptic FPS’ launch in North America

Deep Silver and 4A Games’ remastered version of the post-apocalyptic FPS is now available for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 in North America, due to we have the launch trailer as well as a plethora of screenshots for Metro Redux. The title, which is priced at $50 for the package and $25 each for Metro 2033 Redux and Metro Last Light Redux, will be available on 29 August in Europe.

Both the images above and the clip below illustrate the harsh world of Moscow set in the aftermath of a nuclear apocalypse, with mutants inhabiting the surface resulting in most survivors going underground to stay alive, though some monsters lurk there as well. Due to the presence of different human factions, players will have to engage in combat with both terrifying creatures as well as hostile humans.

Metro Redux five-minute video highlights differences between last-gen, next-gen versions

This fresh video from Deep Silver and 4A Games showcases the setting and visual fidelity in Metro Redux, the FPS duology that stands as two of the most immersive, atmospheric and visually impressive first-person shooters over the past five years.

The clip first sets out the premise, which basically revolves around the adventures of Artyom in mostly underground post-apocalyptic Moscow, which now contains human survivors as well as dangerous mutants. We see how the game engine allows for superior graphical fidelity on the Xbox One and PS4, compared to the visuals in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. There’s the 60 FPS frame rate gamers have been yearning for, as well as higher resolutions (4K PC support!).

The use of the latest 4A engine to rebuild Metro 2033 means that one can expect various gameplay enhancements, including improved AI, better weapon handling, gun customisation and stealth system (stealth kills/non-lethal takedowns). There are also new hidden areas to explore and two new modes – Spartan (challenging and rewarding) and Survival (aggressive enemies, realistic weapon handling etc) to enjoy the game in. Of course, Ranger mode is also making a return for those who prefer the hardcore challenge without any intrusive HUD/UI.

Metro Redux launches on 26th August

Today, Deep Sliver has announced that Metro Redux will release on 26^th August for the PC, Xbox One and PS4. The retail copy of Metro Redux will feature remastered versions of 4A Games first-person shooters Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light including previously released add-ons. Both the games will feature the legendary difficulty mode. If you missed out on these games then Redux is your ultimate edition. Both of the titles can be purchased separately for $24 each or you can buy them together in the boxed edition for $49.99.

Trio of Metro Redux screenshots demonstrate impressive visuals

Deep Silver and 4A Games’ new and improved FPS duology will be arriving soon this Summer in the form of Metro: Redux, and a trio of new screenshots are available for your perusal below, so see if you can discern the visual improvements from the original. The collection consists of remakes of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light, two atmospheric shooters containing stealth and action, set largely in the underground subway system of post-apocalyptic Moscow (hence the name!).

Apart from the notable graphical enhancements, Redux will also allow players to go for a more survival-oriented gameplay style or tackle the games in a primarily combat-focused mode, thereby allowing for greater replayability. The developers have also introduced popular features from Metro: Last Light into Metro 2033 in Redux; customising weapons, wiping your mask and takedowns are a few of the notable ones.
