The following developer diary for Warhammer: End Times – Vermintide turns the spotlight onto the visceral first-person melee combat, an important pillar of the co-op action game from Fatshark Games.

Containing pre-beta footage and, the clip demonstrates the brutal combat while the talented developers provide some useful info shedding a bit of light on ensuring the dark and gritty nature of the game and staying true to the Warhammer verse. Players can swap quickly between melee and ranged weapons, and the former include impact-heavy ones like warhamers as well as more hack ‘n’ slashy types such as axes, daggers and various blades.

They also reveal how the chance to roll loot dice are granted upon level completion, which lets you acquire various weaponry which can have unique attributes such as life steal for a dagger or replenishing ammo for a bow. The quality of loot will depend on factors such as difficulty level, side objectives completed and how good you play. Check out the video to see some fast-paced gameplay!

Kalypso Media has posted a video for Grand Ages: Medieval showing off gameplay from the RTS, which launches on 25 September for the PC and PS4.

Developed by Gaming Minds Studios, the game takes place in the High Middle Ages commencing around 1050 A.D. in the campaign (there’s also open world mode) with players stepping into the shoes of a mayor running a settlement in Europe, who subsequently must use the resources at his disposal and tools of politics, trade, warfare as well as advances in research to empower the nation and ensure its growth.

The game contains both a single-player campaign as well as multiplayer with support for upto eight players. The video gives us a solid look at the basics of the game, starting off with the first town, of which you are the leader. A town can produce upto five different goods, depending on its proximity to bodies of water or wood/forested areas. After scouting helps reveal others towns, players can enter into diplomacy and trade with them, thereby expanding their economy. You can also hire soldiers, construct watchtowers, build a fleet and takeover other towns. Nature also can impact how things play out, with scenarios such as epidemics, forest fires, volcanic eruptions, tempests etc affecting your town.

While we all enjoyed the gameplay demo of Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End shown at E3, it felt a bit incomplete; not to fret as now an extended version of the same has been unleashed to sate our appetite for the PS4-exclusive third-person action-adventure from Naughty Dog.

The clip sees Nathan Drake and Sully being chased by Shoreline mercenaries as they race to aid Sam, the main character’s older brother once thought to be dead, but now trying to locate a fabled pirate colony and its treasure. Picking up where the last video ended, we see the protagonist using a grappling hook to latch onto a truck, being dragged through the mud while attempting to climb towards the vehicle, using his sidearm to take out a pursuing enemy jeep and hijacking a jeep to take out some bad guys on motorcycles.

He finally catches up with his brother, but a heavy vehicle with a mounted cannon subsequently rams into the jeep and overturns it; this leads to another chase sequence – with Nathan and Sam on a motorcycle evading the enemy vehicle – leading to an explosive finish at the habourside. While all three finally rendezvous at their hotel, it appears that Elena is not too pleased with Nathan’s antics.

The clip shows off footage from the Siberian Wilderness, as our resolute heroine scales ice cliffs, braves the freezing cold weather, constructs a makeshift camp to survive the harsh elements, crafts a rugged longbow – which can be upgraded – and therein shows the crafting system (med kits, different types of arrows etc.), stealthily takes out patrolling enemies armed with guns, shows off resource-gathering, leaps from branch to branch to evade/eliminate opponents and even takes down a very angry bear.

Priced at around $24.99/€24.99/£19.99, Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition has commenced its launch on the PC, Xbox One and PS4, so Capcom has posted a trailer to note the occasion.

Boasting of a playable character roster of five – Nero, Dante, Vergil, Trish and Lady – in addition to the inclusion of Legendary Dark Knight and Turbo modes, 1080p resolution support running at 60fps and an improved combat system, this edition seems like the definitive one fans of the series/genre should have. For the uninitiated, the story revolves around young Nero attempting to track down Dante after the latter allegedly assassinates the leader of the Order of the Sword, a group the main character belonged to; meanwhile demons start popping up all over the place, necessitating that you dispatch them along your journey.

The video shows combat as each of the playable characters, each with their unique weapons and playstyles, while the track “Make Me” by Kristen Agee and Onyay Pheori plays in the background.

Devolver Digital has published new footage of Shadow Warrior 2, featuring just about 15 minutes of gameplay, showcasing everyone’s favourite Lo Wang slicing and dicing his way through various types of monsters.

In addition to the new freedom of movement which boasts of a style and ease reminiscent of that in Dying Light, a variety of weapons are shown in action such as Uzi, dual Uzi, pump action shotgun featuring a cool reload animation, grenade launcher, a bow which can shoot freezing arrows and a unique looking chain gun. This time there are multiple melee weapons – at least some of which can also be dual wielded – such as shuriken blades, wolverine-like claws and off course your trusty katana.

The clip shows two rebels attempting to survive several consecutive waves of Imperial enemies, each increasing powerful, which means that Stormtroopers as well as AT-STs show up, which the two use all at their disposal, from blasters to capturing pods and acquiring power-ups such as Orbital Strikes, to defeat the opponents.

The campaign allows one to go at it solo, or join up with upto three other players, and this video below underscores the range of customisation options accessible to your character; different weapons, loadouts, outfits, abilities and more can be expected. The clip also highlights the Cyber Core, and its utility in the gameplay. The footage is from the “Ramses Station” mission, and numerous soldiers, big quad-legged robots of destruction and of course several explosions star in this clip.
