Wages earned can be used to upgrade weapons and abilities; one of the latter shown is that you can summon and detonate imps, while another is the Worship aura, which Gat uses to disable a spire by ripping its heart out. The clip ends as one of the archdukes of hell arrives to face the unstoppable protagonist.

The latter, which also boasts of a slight visual boost, will appear in the UK on 30 January.

Gat out of Hell allows players to control the seemingly unstoppable gangster Gat or hacker Kinzie as you take on demonic enemies by yourself or in two-player co-op, in a quest to rescue The President/God Emperor of the Universe who has been abducted by Satan to marry the latter’s daughter. This means exploring Hell and employing devastating weaponry such as the Arm Chairmageddon and Locust Gun to decimate those who would dare to stand in your way.

Due to the presence of different human factions, players will have to engage in combat with both terrifying creatures as well as hostile humans.

The clip first sets out the premise, which basically revolves around the adventures of Artyom in mostly underground post-apocalyptic Moscow, which now contains human survivors as well as dangerous mutants. We see how the game engine allows for superior graphical fidelity on the Xbox One and PS4, compared to the visuals in the Xbox 360 and PS3 versions. There’s the 60 FPS frame rate gamers have been yearning for, as well as higher resolutions (4K PC support!).

The use of the latest 4A engine to rebuild Metro 2033 means that one can expect various gameplay enhancements, including improved AI, better weapon handling, gun customisation and stealth system (stealth kills/non-lethal takedowns). There are also new hidden areas to explore and two new modes – Spartan (challenging and rewarding) and Survival (aggressive enemies, realistic weapon handling etc) to enjoy the game in. Of course, Ranger mode is also making a return for those who prefer the hardcore challenge without any intrusive HUD/UI.

The game sees the main character traverse various locales, ranging from lands abounding with barbarians to the heart of Rome itself, as he seeks glory for the Roman Empire and vengeance for the brutal murder of his family. Love for Hack ‘n’ slash games as well as TV series like Spartacus and Rome means that I for one look forward to getting my hands on the PC version of the game.
