The downloadable content, expected to arrive later this month for the PC, Xbox One and PS4 versions of the multiplayer-focused FPS, contains the remade Dragon Valley map from Battlefield 2. The trailer depicts intense sequences of combat from the same, with infantry as well as aerial, ground and naval vehicles engaging in furious battle.

Expect to arrive later this year along with the Holiday update, the content will unfortunately not be coming to the Xbox 360 and PS3 due to its size and scale. Among expected features such as destructible and repairable bridges, comes also a low dynamic cloud layer allowing for better separation between ground and aerial units, which lets players indulge in dogfights in the sky and infantry on firefights on the ground better.

The patch will be released globally on 1 September; this will also coincide with the launch of the aforementioned downloadable content for the PC, Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360 and PS3 nearly worldwide, though those awaiting the PS4 and PS3 versions of the DLC in Europe will receive it only a week later on 8 September. Night Operations contains a night-time version of the popular Zavod 311 map called Zavod: Graveyard Shift, and you can see a bit of it this previously released cinematic trailer for the same.

While it is unclear exactly what this entails, one assumes that a recreation of at least one of the classic Battlefield maps is highly probable, given that they were holding a poll asking fans to vote on which maps they would prefer reimagined. Another bit of good news pertaining to this is that responding to a fans comment that any such content should be free, DICE LA Producer David Sirland reportedly tweeted “Indeed, it does.”, which bodes well for all (especially those who paid for the Premium Edition which should include all content IMHO).

The multiplayer expansion pack, which you can read about in detail here, for the FPS adds four new maps – Operation Whiteout takes place in the midst of a blizzard in Siberia; Hammerhead is set in the vicinity of a submarine base; Hangar 21 is a military installation wherein hi-tech gadgets can be seen while Giants of Karelia is located around a weapons factory. New vehicles include the Snowmobile and the Hovertank, and there are also fresh weapons like the Rorsch MK-1 railgun to decimate your opponents.

Final Stand Offers 4 new maps Operation Whitehouse, Hammerhead, Hangar 21 and Giants of Karelia, all of these will take place in the Siberian cold region. It also includes futuristic weapons and gadgets such as XD-1 Accipiter, a remote controlled drone equipped with LMG which is described as a battle Pickup, another battle Pickup is a sharpshooting Rorsch MK-1 Rail Gun. You also have two new weapon attachments, Target Detector, a DMR and Carbine attachment which automatically tag enemies and DS-Decoy which emits false blip on enemies’ radar. There’s the new HT-95 Levkov Hover tank which can also move sideways with the strafing keys . Operation Whiteout takes place during a blizzards in the vicinity of an energy array; Hammerhead is situated near a lakeside in snowy weather; Giants of Karelia is located by a river while the mysterious Hanger 21 is a research facility nestled in a mountain. Players can also expect new weapons (including experimental ones like a “rail gun that fires a single round of powerful kinetic energy”), the new remote-controlled high-powered drone, and vehicles like the prototype hover tank.

Although Final Stand is on track for release by the end of this year, the developers are keen on testing pre-release versions of the add-on’s maps via the CTE (Community Test Environment), which means that the final version should be relatively stable and polished.
