Strider screenshots reveal Mecha Pon battle, return of Schlange and Hiryu’s varied Kunai attacks

Double Helix Games and Capcom’s Osaka studio’s side-scrolling action platformer gets a bunch of new screenshots today, focusing on a challenging boss battle with none other than Mecha Pon and the varied attacks using the Kunai that the protagonist Strider Hiryu can perpetrate. We also get to see a new location called the Tower of Hades wherein the main character may encounter the demented scientist Schlange (remember him from Strider 2?).

The Mecha Pon is a large gorilla-like robot that can use various electricity-based attacks to overpower Hiryu; defeating him requires evasion, agility and quick reflexes. The images also depict the Cypher upgrades such as Reflect, which allows them to bounce off from a wall/ceiling, the flame-powered Burst kunai which explode after striking a target, the Ice kunai which can literally freeze an enemy, and the Magnetic kunai which can somewhat track/lock on to your opponent.
