0Snowdrop Engine further detailed in Massive Entertainment’s behind-the-scene video
Ubisoft’s upcoming online third-person shooter, Tom Clancy’s The Division, is based on the Snowdrop Engine by Massive Entertainment, and this behind-the-scene video with the studio details the power and capabilities of the same. The clip showcases different environments and objects such as forests, turrets, flies, abandoned stores and streets, as well as some scenes from The Division.
Tech Director Anders Holmquist reveals how they wanted to create an engine powerful enough to develop true next-gen AAA titles, allowing for creativity and freedom to experiment. Lead UI Programmer Christian Savoie talks about the core of Snowdrop, and the ability to create and then quickly preview created content, while various members of the team expand on the ease-of-use when it comes to the editor, and the freedom it allows content creators.
Well those brief scenes have whetted my appetite for The Division; expect to see more in the coming weeks and months. Meanwhile, you can go check out this previous video from VGX 2013, which focuses on the features of Snowdrop.
