0PS4-exclusive free-to-play team-based multiplayer shooter Kill Strain unveiled
Sony Santa Monica has unveiled a new top-down free-to-play team-based multiplayer action shooter called Kill Strain for the PS4, which features a 5v2v5 play style, and whose Beta (signup here) will commence in early 2015.
The game puts players into the boots of a human mercenary who must combat the spread of an outbreak across a frozen tundra wherein an experimental energy source has been uncovered. Two of the teams of five players are rival human factions, while the third one consists of two mutants who can infect humans and turn the latter into one of them if they successfully drag their corpse back to a hive.
Meanwhile the human side must focus on gathering resource canisters to advance their team’s abilities and combat the hive by destroying strains; canisters are precious as they can also be used to provide temporary safe passage through a strain, as humans typically cannot walk through the hive without sustaining damage. The mutants are stronger, and deal out damaging leap and stun attacks, and can also create a spore on the map to spread the hive. Check out some concept art of the humans and mutants below!
