Prey 2 officially cancelled
Remember those amazing screenshots leaked back in August 2013 that illustrated a scifi FPS in which the player got to be a human bounty hunter tracking down aliens? Well, it doesn’t look like gamers will be getting their hands on this anytime soon, or possible ever, since Bethesda has finally confirmed the cancellation of Prey 2.
The lack of media and any news on the game over the past year certainly pointed towards this, though reports only suggested that the title was in stasis; the game was initially being developed by Human Head Studios for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3, but according to rumours was later being worked on by Arkane Studios and subsequently Obsidian Entertainment. The confirmation of Prey 2’s cancellation came in a CNET interview at PAX Australia in which Bethesda vice president Pete Hines said that while it wasn’t an easy decision, the game never reached their “quality standard”, prompting the termination of the project.
