Plants vs. Zombies 2 launching on 18 July as free-to-play; trailer unveiled

PopCap Games has raised the curtains from Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time!, the highly anticipated sequel to the superhit tower defense game released on multiple platforms. Set for release in July 2013, the title will initially launch exclusively for the iPad, iPhone and iPod touch on the App Store. The game sees the never-ending conflict between the plants and the zombies, with the former attempting to survive the invasion of the latter.

Best of all, Plants vs. Zombies 2 will be primarily free-to-play with all levels across multiple worlds accessible to everyone, though players can purchase upgrades and other in-game items. The video also indicates the return of Crazy Dave, the de facto shopkeeper who provides special plant upgrades and other weapons and items.
