0Homefront 2 Leaked Gameplay shows singleplayer, multiplayer maps
Footage that looks like it’s from a very early build from an Xbox (360?) version of Homefront 2 has hit the internet, and you can watch it below. Last we heard, the FPS – which is the sequel to THQ and Kaos Studios/Digital Extremes’ action title in which North Korea invades the US – was being developed by Crytek for release in 2014 on as yet announced platforms (though rumours point positively towards at least an Xbox One version). The button prompts in the clip below suggest that an Xbox controller was used, so that appears to be more and more likely.
From the build it appears that the singleplayer campaign has four difficulty levels, and also allows for various upgrades and weapon attachments. The footage shows a Shipyard level wherein an R/C car is driven around the map and encounters a drone patrol, while in another level the player drives an assault buggy towards a downtown location. The build also appears to contain four multiplayer modes: standard Team Deathmatch, Ground Control wherein players capture and hold command points on the map, Assault and Resistance. The four classes shown are Rifleman, Technician, Medic and Marksman with varied loadouts; there also seemed to be vehicles such as attack and transport helicopters, tanks and APC’s.
While the original game was no masterpiece, the premise (familiar to fans of Red Dawn) was certainly interesting, and it will be interesting to see how Crytek’s direction adds to the experience, given the studio’s enormous success in the FPS genre. We’ll keep you updated on Homefront 2 as and when new info emerges.
