Hellraid Developer Diary focuses on first-person sword combat system
Techland’s latest video for Hellraid is a developer diary that explains a bit about the sword fighting system in the co-op oriented first-person horror hack ‘n’ slasher, which is expected to arrive on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 later this year. The developers know that gameplay, and in this case combat, is the meat and bones of a good action game, which is why they teamed up with ARMA (Association for Renaissance Martial Arts) to obtain a better understanding of how sword fighting should actually feel, look and sound like.
This also aided in recreating fighting styles and the way weapons were handled in the game to make it more realistic as well as immersive. They also reveal a bit about how animations for the first-person title were handled, as those used for third-person games were very apt for this perspective. Do watch this very informative video and peruse our previous articles on Hellraid to know more.
