0Grand Ages: Medieval video demonstrates the basics of the RTS
Kalypso Media has posted a video for Grand Ages: Medieval showing off gameplay from the RTS, which launches on 25 September for the PC and PS4.
Developed by Gaming Minds Studios, the game takes place in the High Middle Ages commencing around 1050 A.D. in the campaign (there’s also open world mode) with players stepping into the shoes of a mayor running a settlement in Europe, who subsequently must use the resources at his disposal and tools of politics, trade, warfare as well as advances in research to empower the nation and ensure its growth.
The game contains both a single-player campaign as well as multiplayer with support for upto eight players. The video gives us a solid look at the basics of the game, starting off with the first town, of which you are the leader. A town can produce upto five different goods, depending on its proximity to bodies of water or wood/forested areas. After scouting helps reveal others towns, players can enter into diplomacy and trade with them, thereby expanding their economy. You can also hire soldiers, construct watchtowers, build a fleet and takeover other towns. Nature also can impact how things play out, with scenarios such as epidemics, forest fires, volcanic eruptions, tempests etc affecting your town.
