Epic Norse mythology-based RPG Runemaster gets new screenshot of Midgard, fresh concept art
Paradox Development Studio have issued a few images from Runemaster, their epic RPG based on Norse mythology being developed with the Clausewitz Engine. The screenshot below depicts a Hero outside a small farm in the realm of Midgard, while the artwork is of a troll and a human settlement. Set to arrive on the PC in Q4 this year, the game focuses around the player choosing to trigger Ragnarök AKA the end of the world or prevent this from taking place, which means that you choose either the trickster Loki or thunder god Thor.
Runemaster boasts of procedurally generated content, which means that locales are varied and range from mountains to plains with urban centres, mines, farms etc located according to factors such as distance to sources of fresh water and so on. Furthermore, different races start out in different regions of the world, though exploration will yield side quests, lore, loot and uncovering secrets. Combat will be based on a hex grid system, with battles being turn-based and tactical. All units will have typical RPG attributes such as Health, Armour, Melee/Ranged/Magic damage, Range and Movement speed. Stay tuned for more info in the coming weeks!
