0Dragons, Drakes and Wurms star in trio of Pillars of Eternity screenshots
Obsidian has issued a trio of screenshots and some information focusing on the members of the dragon family players may encounter in Pillars of Eternity.
First off are the Wurms, young dragons who rarely mature into a drake and then later on a dragon, as they lack in sheer strength and need space (a safe habitat) and food to grow. Though they lack in power, they are clever, aggressive and band together in covens to present a threat to lone individuals or unprepared groups of travellers.
Meanwhile Drakes possess somewhat more intelligence but are more aggressive and prefer to carve out a territory and be by themselves instead of banding together. Their appearance can vary depending on their natural habitat, which means that one that typically stays underground will feature earth-tone scales, one which frequently takes to the air is likely to have a more sleek body with feather-like scales and blue and white in colour, whereas one that dwells in swamps may be green, brown or black. This form of dragons can also breathe fire and sometimes alternate elemental attacks such as lightning, acid or steam.
Finally, the fully developed Dragon is quit intelligent and prefers a solitary existence, but can also venture out of its territory to seek out a mate. They are also less prone to hostilities unless they are provoked, and their appearance and abilities typically reflect their habitat.
