Epic Games recently put together a tech video with Nvidia called Rivalry that debuted at Google I/O to demonstrate PC-quality visuals and performance that could also be ported for mobile devices. Consisting of assets from the mind-blowing Samaritan demo displayed at GDC 2011, the clip was running on an Nvidia Tegra K1 mobile processor, and was created in less than three weeks.

The intent of the video was to demonstrate that high-end DirectX 11 graphics are capable on Android and Google’s AEP (Android Extension Pack) extensions for OpenGL ES 3.1, which basically means that developers don’t need to skimp on visual fidelity when it comes to mobile gaming. Expect features such as HDR, high quality reflections, tessellation, volumetric textures and more!

Tech Director Anders Holmquist reveals how they wanted to create an engine powerful enough to develop true next-gen AAA titles, allowing for creativity and freedom to experiment. Lead UI Programmer Christian Savoie talks about the core of Snowdrop, and the ability to create and then quickly preview created content, while various members of the team expand on the ease-of-use when it comes to the editor, and the freedom it allows content creators.

DICE – developers of the upcoming multiplayer-oriented FPS Battlefield 4 – have sent forth the following video to expand on and detail the features of their next generation Frostbite 3 engine, which is being used to power the game. Frostbite 3 grants the game designers much more freedom in constructing environments on a superior scale, intensifying the experience and helping further blur the line between the game and reality.

It allows for dynamic destructible environments on vast battlefields including damage caused by the player, potentially resulting in game-changing scenarios and providing the player with an increased amount of freedom. Features like Emotion Capture, enhanced lighting, ambient physics and improved animations all further intensify the experience, allowing for more realistic characters and environments, visible in simple things like trees swaying in the wind.

Technical Artist Andy Klein talks about the addition of network water simulation allowing for dynamic ocean combat; for example, a jet crashing into the ocean causes waves, impacting objects on the water nearby. Higher audio fidelity also further improve immersion, whether you are charging through the explosive chaos of a battlefield with bullets whizzing past or just listening to ambient sounds. More Battlefield 4 videos and screenshots can be viewed here.

Gioteck recently launched the new PS3 wireless controller- SC-1, which is especially designed to play sports titles such as NBA 14, NCAA Football 14 and FIFA , as it provides gamers with ergonomic styling and programmable buttons which is good for multi-tasking. The controller design is fantastic; it is sleek and stylish as it’s using a red, grey and black colour theme which makes it look remarkable. The red underneath the analog sticks give a brilliant look to the controller. If you scrutinise the image above the first thing you will probably notice is that it uses the offset thumbstick design, like that of the Xbox 360 controller, which to me, is the most important feature in the controller as I don’t find the analog sticks layout on the current Dualshock 3 controller very comfortable. Well I must say if you are planning to buy a new third-party controller then Gioteck SC-1 PS3 Controller seems to be the way to go.

You can peruse the official press release of the product below:

Gioteck Launch Summer of Sport with SC-1 PS3 Controller

This summer promises to provide a number of long awaited gaming titles, including sporting hits such as NBA 14, NCAA Football 14 and of course the annual release of the ever-popular FIFA franchise. Gioteck are on hand ready to give keen sports gamers the peripherals they need to guarantee success, both on and offline with the help of the SC-1 sports controller.

Especially designed with the above sporting titles in mind, the SC-1 hosts a number of unique and exciting features which make it a breed apart from its competitors. Its extensive feature list and attractive price tag make the SC-1 a must-have for a summer of intense sports gaming.

Features

A combination of built-in features and a stunning red and black exterior finish make this PS3 controller a cut above the rest…

Programmable Buttons – Two easy to use buttons located at the front of the SC-1 allow you to save long button sequences, ensuring you can pull off all of your best and favoured moves at the touch of a button.

Dual Vibration Feedback – Much like the dualshock Sony PS3 controller, the SC-1 offers immersive vibration feedback with 2 rumble motors built in to increase responsive gameplay.

Pressure Sensitivity Adjustment – Customise your controller to game the way you have always wanted to. The pressure sensitive thumb sticks offer 4 varying levels of sensitivity to increase accuracy, allowing you to pull off the best shots and in-game moves like never before.

Offset Concave Thumb Sticks – By popular demand, Gioteck have incorporated the famous Xbox offset thumb stick layout into the SC-1 controller. This allows the PS3 pad to sit comfortably in the natural hand position for hours of pain free and accurate gameplay.

Auto Power Save – As a wireless controller, the need to be constantly attaching charging cables can quickly become frustrating. The SC-1 features an automated power save feature, which turns the controller into standby mode after 10 minutes of inactivity. As well as this, the SC-1 also displays battery life with the help of a front facing LED light. The days of losing battery at the essential moments during gameplay are long gone with the help of these great features.

As well as a great amount of internal features which boost usability and gameplay, the SC-1 also displays a stunning red and black exterior with rubberised handles for optimum grip. The combination of aesthetic and internal features makes this controller a gaming essential for the next coming months.

Gioteck provide an extensive range of high quality and affordable gaming peripherals including PS3 controllers, gaming headsets and charging stations. Check out the official website today for all of the latest news, offers and product information.

A Southern California company designed a backpack charger that helps to keep your mobile devices charged through the day! The last thing anyone wants is to run out of smartphone or laptop power while traveling or commuting to work.

TYLT’s Energi Backpack is a backpack and charging station that holds a 10,400 mAh lithium-ion battery. Three devices can be charged at once via USB ports. The backpack charger stores enough power to charge a smartphone four times and a typical tablet once, when the bag is fully charged, claims TYTL.

This TSA-approved backpack has many pockets to fit everything you need. Even Cables can be routed throughout the backpack and even to the outside .

This backpack is fully-loaded but not be fully prepared, like it features only one small waterproof pocket.
