The Smartphone Hacker is an upcoming British mystery drama short film based in London.I’d first like to say whooping great hello to everyone. I’ve been away for sometime working on my short film project which is The Smartphone Hacker. As you all know I’m a writer/director and cover the film section on LGN.

THE SMARTPHONE HACKER is a mystery thriller about a lonely and lost guy who roams around the streets of London, hacking into people’s smartphones, discovering interesting things about them, such as affairs, lies and other secrets. The hacker uses this information to take control of their life’s and to manipulate them.

The Hacker is played by upcoming and promising British actor Mason Edwards.

It is a gripping story that centres around the hacker finding some mysterious photos, including a scandal
video on a woman’s phone.

‘All their dirty little secrets and prized possession stored all under one device’.

The hacker has an obsession about finding personal things about people and taking maters in his own hands. He tends to dislike people and is drawn to hack into their phones. The bigger the secrete the bigger the excitment. This soon becomes an addiction as he wants to know more about his victims, where they go and what they do. This takes him on a hacking spree around London.

This is a relevant short film that sends a powerful message about the impact of smartphones on our lives as well as the importance about keeping your data secure. We’re all entitled to our personal privacy but imagine how you would feel if your smartphone was hacked. Just imagine what someone could do with your data.

How secures is you data? Each time you switch your smartphone on, your data has the potential to be hacked, even from the comfort of your own home. However the risk increases drastically when you are out in public.

Interview with Novelist Hattie Holden Edmonds

Hattie Holden Edmonds is a novelist who’s new fiction novel Cinema Lumière is growing in popularity.

She was the in-house writer at Comic Relief for three years, working on projects with amongst others, Richard Curtis, Sacha Baron Cohen and Armando Iannucci. Before that she was a music journalist for the German music magazine Bravo. Cinema Lumière is her debut novel. She also writes a weekly blog for the Huffington Post on all things bookish.

Hattie Holden Edmonds: ‘The urge to find a passion is part of what makes us human’

The author talks to Annette Bette Kellow about W11, inspirations and her writing life.

Cinema Lumière shows a film of the main character’s life, Hannah, how did you come up with the book’s premise?

The idea came from a true story – of a woman who had a near-death experience, during which she was shown a full blown, 3D film of her life. I wondered what would happen if we could see a preview of this so-called Life Review, especially when we’ve messed things up pretty spectacularly, as in the case of Hannah. I am also a sucker for quirky cinemas, so I set it in a one-seated cinema, partly modeled on Studio 28, one of Paris’s oldest picture-houses.

BioWare’s Second teaser video points to Gamescom reveal

EA and BioWare have posted a second “You’ve Been Chosen” teaser, with the live-action video pointing to a reveal at Gamescom 2014, which takes place later this month. While the previous video delved into a young man’s nightmares, this one – titled “Spark” – shows another youth sitting in a Chinese restaurant and drawing some image from what appears to be some visions (something like The Ring) while it’s raining outside, when his mobile starts ringing incessantly.

Find out what happens when he ignores the call by watching the video below, which displays the following message at the end: “Do you know they are watching?” The clip’s description also adds “Your power is rising. Cologne, Germany. You’ve Been Chosen. 08.13.14.” This strongly suggests that we can expect more info on the mysterious project at Gamescom, which is in Cologne from 13 to 17 August.

Spooky Live-Action video teases new project by BioWare

Master of RPG titles BioWare looks set to announce a new IP at Gamescom 2014 – which takes place on 13-17 August in Cologne (Germany) – if the following live-action video by the devs and EA which points to a website called http://www.youve-been-chosen.com/ is any indication. The website contains the message “The time is near. They are watching. Your power is rising. Cologne, Germany. You’ve Been Chosen.”

Titled Nightmare, the teaser sees guy in a hoodie running through a dark alley towards a car in what seems to be a bad dream, while we also get a glimpse of someone in a suit sitting in a chair whose face we cannot make out (due to all the ominous black smoke). What do you think? Is the studio branching out from its traditional stronghold of fantasy/scifi RPG’s to a new genre? Guess all shall be revealed next month, but feel free to search for clues in the interim.

Conan O’Brien visited E3 and it was hilarious

In somewhat game-related news, we have this hilarious video showing bits of Conan O’Brien’s visit to this year’s E3 event, where he checks out games like Insomniac Games’ Xbox One-exclusive open-world action title Sunset Overdrive, the PS4 indie title Entwined and even Sony’s Project Morpheus (VR headset). There’s also a guy who looks like he’s dressed for a dance party, Conan reacting to Kevin Spacey In Your Face and several Nintendo women cheering him on as he decimates some enemies in Omega Force and Team Ninja’s hack and slash game for the Wii U, Hyrule Warriors.

It’s always interesting to watch a non-gamer try and make sense of such events and the products they showcase; enjoy the video below!

Street Fighter: Assassin’s Fist has received a new teaser trailer; the upcoming live-action series based on the renowned fighting game will air on Machinima next month. Street Fighter: Assassin’s revolves around the past, present and future of Ryu, Ken and other characters from the street fighter universe such as Akuma. During the course of the series, you will watch Ken and Ryu learning the ways of the Ansatsuken (“assassin’s fist”) fighting style. The trailer below gives us a good look at Ken’s back story; we also get a glimpse at his flaming shoryuken move. Watch the teaser below

Watch Dogs story will continue in ebook Watch_Dogs //n/Dark Clouds; have a new trailer

Ubisoft has revealed that its upcoming open-world third-person action game will not end with the conclusion of Watch Dogs; its plot will continue directly in an ebook called Watch_Dogs //n/Dark Clouds written by John Shirley.

The interactive and illustrated novel is set to arrive on 27 May as an upgraded e-book version with interactive elements including videos and image as well as a classic e-book, and will be released via digital channels. Its plot will introduce a new ex-military character called Mick Wolfe.

Images from the Elder Scrolls Online Limited Edition Hero’s Guide

Bethesda have announced a limited edition Hero’s Guide for Elder Scrolls Online created in collaboration with Dark Horse Comics will ship on 14 April priced at $100, and have issued the following images from the same to give fans a sneak peek at the three-book 272-page compilation. Consisting of tons of lore written by David S. J. Hodgson as well as gorgeous illustrations (artwork by art by Brynn Metheney, Roberto Gomes, David Keen, and Caio Cacau), the content comes packaged in a heavy-duty clamshell which also contains a miniature lithograph in a numbered portfolio.

The set contains Kyne’s Challenge, a faux-leather-bound Hunter’s Companion Hardcover bestiary consisting of 168 gold gilded pages; the 56-page Gathering Force, Arms and Armor of Tamriel Soft touch fighter’s guide, and Agents and Reagents, and an alchemical notebook of 48 pages. The Elder Scrolls Online Limited Edition Hero’s Guide can be pre-ordered now exclusively from the Bethesda Store. For the uninitiated, the Elder Scrolls Online is an MMORPG slated to arrive in April on the PC, and in June on the Xbox One and PS4.

Yep, that’s right, The Devil’s Spear is a short live-action film focusing on piratey antics in the Caribbean as in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag. The trailer below gives us a glimpse into this fantastical world; expect more booty when the complete short film releases on 16 October. British rapper Dan Bull has made an excellent video for Call of Juarez: Gunslinger, giving it the rap treatment with some hilariously apt lyrics. For the uninitiated, Call of Juarez: Gunslinger is an upcoming videogame by Techland being developed for the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3; the first-person shooter revolves around life in the Wild West, featuring some very famous/infamous characters such as Jesse James and Billy the Kid.
