EA have released a full 17-minute trailer for Battlefield 4, giving us our first look at the gameplay in the single player campaign of DICE’s upcoming first-person shooter. Powered by the Frostbite 3 engine, the game is set for launch in Fall 2013 on the PC, Xbox 360 and PS3; pre-ordering the title at participating retail outlets will secure gamers Premium expansion pack. Furthermore, the Battlefield 4 Digital Deluxe edition – exclusive to Origin – includes the main game as well as bonus in-game digital items; pre-ordering this version will net you the Premium expansion pack in addition to access to the exclusive Battlefield 4 multiplayer beta.
Now onto the trailer itself; the 17-minute lengthy clip entitled “Fishing in Baku” is composed entirely of in-game footage, and starts with the protagonist Recker – in a car with three other soldiers slowly sinking to watery depths – shooting out the windshield to escape, though one of the squad mates is stuck. We then flash back to a flooded decrepit building where the player’s objective is to reach a safehouse, and meeting up with his team members who have procured an important piece of intel. At one point, players have to provide cover fire from the upper levels of the structure for a squad mate below, during which we see that one can alternate between using the scope and the iron sights for the assault rifle.
We then jump forward to another part of the mission, where the four attempt to make their way to a factory roof via a construction site, but are spotted by enemies in between, resulting in a skirmish wherein the player issues commands to the teammates, allowing him to flank the opponents while decimating a bit of the environment. However, the subsequent appearance of an enemy attack helicopter results in the extraction turning awry, and the building collapsing; watch the video to know more, and feel free to check out the leaked trailer here.
