Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag Trailer expands on Multiplayer Features – Game Lab, Perks, Abilities and more
Ubisoft’s open-world action-adventure gets a brand new trailer expanding on the multiplayer portion of the game; Tim Brown – Lead Game Designer of Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag’s multiplayer – talks about the modes, perks, abilities and various other features players can expect. Modes include Deathmatch and the team-based Artifact Assault (think CTF), wherein each side needs to capture steal an artifact in enemy territory and carry it over to their base, while attempting to prevent the opposing team from doing the same. There are also various Perks to choose from, ranging from one which reduces ability cooldown times, another which increases resistance to stun/contested kill to increased speed when chasing down an opponent or copying the ability set of an enemy who has just killed you.
Meanwhile, Ability sets consist of two chosen abilities, two perks, a ranged weapon, a kill streak and a loss streak. Abilities are extremely useful but entail a cooldown time; ones such as Disguise, which temporarily alters your character’s appearance, and Time Phase, which slows down everything in a given radius except for your character, can be critical to victory. Enhanced character customisation options means that players will have more to pick and choose from; there are various main and silent weapons, facial characteristics, relics, emblems, varied equipment as well as stun and ground-finishing moves.
Another brand new exciting feature is the introduction of the Game Lab, which allows one to create a custom game mode; this entails choice of game session time, modifiers such as melee kils/stuns/Chasebreakers/Whispers etc, weapons, abilities etc. The video shows how one can create modes according to their preference such as ones rewarding only ranged or stealth gameplay.
