1300: Rise of an Empire Debut Trailer features muscular men, stylish action
It’s been a while since we posted any good movie-related content, so we are going to amend that today. Here’s the debut trailer for 300: Rise of an Empire, which is the sequel to the hit action movie 300, based on the excellent graphic novel by acclaimed writer Frank Miller. Set for release in March 2014, the upcoming movie focuses on the conflict between Greek general Themistocles of Athens and Xerxes and his invading army. Due to the latter’s superior numbers Sparta (which has skilled infantry) and Athens (naval superiority) form a tenuous alliance and battle Xerxes, Artemisia (naval commander of the Persian navy played by the alluring Eva Green), and their seemingly-limitless forces.
The movie sees the return of Lena Headey as Sparta’s Queen Gorgo and of course Rodrigo Santoro as malevolent king Xerxes; other stars include Sullivan Stapleton (Strike Back, Gangster Squad), Hans Matheson (Clash of the Titans) and Andrew Pleavin (Batman Begins). While 300 was directed by Zack Snyder, Noam Murro has been chosen to helm this film, though viewers can expect the same stylishly portrayed action, muscled heroes dealing death to deserving baddies, beautiful women and of course gratuitous (cough*artistic*cough) nudity.
